People

The current executive board of the SCPT is composed of Bruce Ellis Benson, John D. Caputo, Merold Westphal, and Norman Wirzba.

Bruce Ellis Benson is Professor of Philosophy at Wheaton College (IL). He is the author of Graven Ideologies: Nietzsche, Derrida and Marion on Modern Idolatry, The Improvisation of Musical Dialogue: A Phenomenology of Music, and Pious Nietzsche: Decadence and Dionysian Faith. He is the co-editor of five books, the most recent being Words of Life: New Theological Turns in French Phenomenology. He is an editor of the Eerdmans book series "Envision: New Trends in Christian Theology," Executive Director of the Society for Continental Philosophy and Theology, and co-chair of the Theology and Continental Philosophy Group (American Academy of Religion).

John D. Caputo is the Thomas J. Watson Professor of Religion and Humanities at Syracuse University. He is also David R. Cook Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Villanova University, where he taught from 1968 until 2004. He is the author of many books, including The Prayers and Tears of Jacques Derrida: Religion without Religion.

Merold Westphal is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Fordham University. He has written and edited more than a dozen books, including Overcoming Onto-Theology, and Levinas and Kierkegaard in Dialogue.

Norman Wirzba is Research Professor of Theology, Ecology, and Rural Life at Duke Divinity School. He is the author of "The Paradise of God: Renewing Religion in an Ecological Age," "Living the Sabbath," as well as the editor of several books on philosophy, ecology, and agrarian studies. His most recent book is "Food and Faith: A Theology of Eating" (forthcoming with Cambridge University Press).
